2C20.1 Bernoulli Tubes

[Setup Time: 25 Min.] [Current Condition: Good]

Info

Setup Instructions

1. Fill the bucket about 2/3 full with water and a couple drops of food coloring.

2. Place the motor and the loose end of the tube in the bucket of water. Take extra care to ensure that the loose tube will not fall out of the bucket, otherwise water will be pumped all over the floor!

3. Plug the motor into the variac. Start the motor at slow speeds and increase the speed until the water levels in the tubes will be easily visible to the students.

4. The meter stick can be left beside the tube apparatus so the professor can hold it horizontally to highlight the difference in height of water column in each tube.
